The apricot was first cultivated in India in about 3,000 BC. It is rich in vitamin A, B1, B2, C and cyanogenic glycosides. Recent studies showed that apricots possess the highest levels and widest variety of carotenoids, which are antioxidants that help prevent heart disease and reduce cholesterol levels.
